Parts of Scotland are set to be battered with 70mph gusts as the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds.
The weather alert will come into force at 10am on Wednesday and last until 7pm, affecting the Inner and Outer Hebrides and western parts of the Highlands.
The forecaster said strong southwesterly winds with gusts of between 50mph and 60mph are “expected widely” across the region.
Winds could reach up to 70mph in exposed coastal areas and on hilltops, mainly during the late morning and early afternoon on Wednesday.
This will ease off into the afternoon and early evening.
Ullapool, Portree, and Stornoway are likely to be affected by the weather warning.
The Met Office says that winds will likely cause some travel disruption affecting trains, roads and ferries, including the CalMac ferry between the mainland and the Outer Hebrides.
Lorry drivers are also being warned when travelling on exposed routes and bridges.
The Met Office said: “Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary.”
