Manuel Neuer will play no part in FC Bayern’s upcoming Champions League visit to Viking.
The Bavarian giants face off against the Norwegian outfit on Tuesday evening, having already secured a 5-0 win against fellow Eliteserien side Bodø/Glimt.

The former Germany No.1 will miss out on the European clash owing to a foot issue.
Vincent Kompany told reporters: “Manuel can’t train today. He’s felt something in his foot. So that quickly answers the question of who will be in goal tomorrow.
We heard after the Augsburg game that he’d felt something. You never know how long it’ll take, but given he couldn’t train yesterday or today, it makes no sense to take any unnecessary risks. I don’t know if he’ll be in the squad tomorrow. Will he start? Very likely he won’t. Then we’ll look ahead.”
It doesn’t seem to be the case that the 40-year-old will be out of action for a prolonged period of time.

However, one can safely assume that backup Jonas Urbig will be starting between the sticks for Bayern Munich in tonight’s Champions League tie.

Ultimately, this is a reality FC Bayern fans will have to become increasingly used to as we draw steadily closer to the end of the 2026/27 season. Neuer has already retired from the German national side and indicated that the current campaign will be his final one in club football.
And judging by the early signs, Urbig is well-placed to fill some rather large boots at the Allianz Arena. The 23-year-old notably impressed as part of Jurgen Klopp’s second squad during the September international break, securing two clean sheets.
Minutes have been a little hard to come by at the start of the club season, with the young shotstopper starting against Elversberg (2-1 win) and VfL Osnabrück (4-1 win).
