…Insists NELFUND benefits indigent students
From Okwe Obi, Abuja
The Executive Director of Estate Services at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Ezekiel Nya-Etok, has placed President Bola Tinubu in the league of former President Shehu Shagari and former Lagos State Governor Lateef Jakande for their contributions to mass housing.
Nya-Etok, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom State, told journalists in Abuja that housing could become one of Tinubu’s major legacies.
“Housing is one of his greatest legacies that he is going to have as an achievement,” he said.
He added: “Do you know that after Shagari Housing and Jakande Housing you can’t talk of any other administration? The other person that unfortunately we don’t give him enough credit is Abacha. Yes, Abacha did a lot for housing.”
Nya-Etok said the proposed Enterprise Estate initiative would introduce a significant shift in housing delivery across the country.
“There is something called Enterprise Estate and it’s going to be all over and Nigerians will see a complete paradigm shift on housing delivery,” he said.
He attributed the administration’s prospects to structural economic reforms and what he described as a willingness to consider professional competence in public appointments.
He further praised the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), saying it could help indigent students complete their education.
Recalling the financial difficulties faced by students during his own school years, he said many of his contemporaries depended on wealthy individuals for educational support.
He maintained that expanding access to education and housing would be important measures of the administration’s performance.
