Monday afternoon’s Arizona Fall League game at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale was decided in the first inning, with the Glendale Desert Dogs falling 7-1 to the Salt River Rafters.
Only two Dodgers played in Monday’s contest, including right-hander Brooks Auger, who started for Glendale. Auger’s third start of the AFL got off to a rough start, with a triple and single for a run. It took Auger even longer to feel the heat of the rhythm of the day, as he give up an inside-the-park home run to (Kyle) DeBarge, making it 3-0 just three batters into the game.

Things improved for Auger, who struck out his next two hitters and retired nine of his next 10 to get through three innings. He allowed a two-out walk and stolen base in that same first inning but stranded the runner at second base.
Auger has allowed five runs in his 6 2/3 innings this fall, but has also struck out 32.1 percent of his batters faced.
Charles Davalan walked in the fourth inning and later scored Glendale’s only run of the game, then later singled in the eighth inning. He’s reached base twice in three of his last four games and has a .349 on-base percentage thus far through nine games after getting off to a slow start.
Monday was Davlan’s eighth game at second base in the Arizona Fall League, with his other start at designated hitter.
