Residents of a village in the Minneriya electorate are facing severe distress after a swarm of millipedes invaded around 20 houses in the area, Ada Derana reported.
According to affected villagers, the millipedes have entered living spaces, doorways and kitchens, and even contaminated food, making daily life extremely difficult.
The villagers said spraying pesticides kills some of the millipedes temporarily, but they soon return in even greater numbers.
Residents are reportedly spending Rs. 3,000 a day on pesticides, yet the treatments have failed to provide a lasting solution.
The villagers are urgently calling on the relevant authorities to find an effective, long-term solution to the millipede infestation before it spreads further. (Newswire)
