A special handover ceremony was held at Hong Duc University in Thanh Hoa Province, Vietnam, on Oct. 14.
Through the ceremony, Hyundai Engineering delivered a "Climate Change Response Education Center" to Hong Duc University and a "tree planting site" to Ben En National Park. About 600 people, including Hyundai Engineering employees, officials from the Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, Hong Duc University, and Ben En National Park, attended the event and shared the results. In particular, the Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee presented Hyundai Engineering with an official commendation in recognition of its contributions to the local community.
Hyundai Engineering strengthened support on the software side by establishing the education center at Hong Duc University in 2024. It has conducted climate change awareness education for students, teachers, and residents in Thanh Hoa Province, while operating practice-oriented programs such as plastic recycling and waste separation and discharge. An employee volunteer group also visited the site directly to support education and planting activities.
Operational plans following the handover are also specific. Hong Duc University plans to significantly expand the target of its education programs from the existing 11 high schools to about 720,000 elementary, middle, and high school students across Thanh Hoa Province. It also decided to secure the project’s continuity by incorporating climate change-related content into the regular curriculum and providing mandatory education to about 3,000 freshmen every year.
Visible results have also been produced in environmental restoration. Hyundai Engineering planted about 44,000 melaleuca trees on a site of about 30,000 pyeong near Song Muc Lake in Ben En National Park.
The planting site will be taken over by Ben En National Park, which will manage it through its own budget and government support. The national park plans to expand green space around Song Muc Lake to 200 ha by 2030, and the 10 ha site created by Hyundai Engineering is expected to serve as a key base for this long-term project.
The project is part of the 13th "Saehuimang School" project, Hyundai Engineering’s overseas social contribution program.
Hyundai Engineering said it had put into practice its value of contributing to better lives through the spaces it creates and had laid the groundwork for the local community to build its own future.
