PUTRAJAYA: The Finance Ministry (MOF) today dismissed as false claims that service charges for quick response (QR) code payments would be introduced on Nov 1, as stated in a viral poster.
In a Facebook post, the ministry said that no official announcement had been made about imposing QR code payment service charges, as the poster claimed.
"The public is advised not to believe or share the poster claiming that QR payment service charges will be introduced on Nov 1, 2026, as the information is false," the statement said.
The MOF advised the public to verify information through its official channels before sharing it to prevent the spread of fake news that could mislead the public.
The poster had circulated widely on Facebook and Threads earlier, drawing mixed reactions and comments from social media users.
