The Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) has cemented its status as a premier centre for indigenous medical technology by hosting the MedTech RoboSprint 2026.
The two-day national programme brought together over 32 startups and 60 participants from across the country to translate advanced engineering concepts into practical clinical applications.
Organised by RoboMed alongside the Innovation Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC) of IIT Delhi and AMTZ, the initiative aimed to fast-track surgical and assistive robotics design. Participating teams presented innovative prototypes before an expert panel that evaluated solutions based on technical feasibility and clinical relevance.
Highlighting the country’s strategic ambitions, AMTZ Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Jitendra Sharma noted that India must transition from a consumer of medical robotics to a global creator of competitive technologies.
“At AMTZ, we are working to make that transition possible by connecting innovators with the infrastructure, funding, mentorship, and market opportunities they need,” he said.
The event concluded with GenElek Technologies winning the top honour for its Robotic Gait Trainer. The victorious team secured access to comprehensive research and development infrastructure, rapid prototyping, and commercialisation support through AMTZ’s Make in India Healthcare initiative.
