Tesla $TSLA plans to unveil its next-generation Roadster electric sports car at 8:55 p.m. ET on Thursday, according to CNBC. A SpaceX test facility in McGregor, Texas, near Waco, will host the livestream.
Tesla set the event for Oct. 1 and called it off on Sept. 28, citing weather and saying the show can only be held outdoors, according to Electrek. Tesla confirmed the new livestream time on X $TWTR.
Executives are expected to disclose pricing, details and production targets. Tesla reopened Roadster reservations in recent weeks and is taking $50,000 deposits from prospective buyers in the U.S., Canada and China. The car is expected to be a high-end, low-volume model that uses SpaceX technology, such as cold gas thrusters, to hover.
Tesla established a no-fly zone around the SpaceX facility.
The demo has been scaled back from flying to a short hover, according to Electrek. The demo car is described as remote-operated and not street-legal, according to Electrek. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has claimed the thrusters could take the car from 0 to 60 mph in under one second, according to Electrek.
On X, Musk posted that "this demo will be a BANGER, probably metaphorically, though some chance literally," according to Engadget.
The Roadster has been delayed repeatedly since Tesla first showed it in 2017. The company took $50,000 reservations and offered a $250,000 Founders Series at the time. It promised a 620-mile range, a 0-60 mph time of 1.9 seconds and production in 2020.
Tesla has not delivered a single Roadster, according to Electrek. Electrek counts at least six production delays and seven unveil dates. Tesla moved production to 2027 or 2028 in November 2025.
CNBC reported that Tesla has missed every targeted delivery date since it began taking deposits in 2017. As recently as October 2025, Musk promoted a Roadster demo that he hoped would take place before the end of that year. That demo did not happen.
