Strive has announced plans to raise USD 500 million through a new preferred stock offering, expanding its funding options after increasing its Bitcoin holdings to 32,773 BTC. The announcement comes as Bitcoin trades near USD 83,500 ahead of U.S. inflation data. Separately, university researchers have developed a post-quantum security design for the Bitcoin Lightning Network, addressing potential threats from future quantum computers.
Strive Bitcoin Treasury Targets USD 500 Million Through SATS
Strive announced Tuesday evening that it plans to sell five million shares of SATS, a new perpetual preferred stock, at USD 100 each. The shares will carry a fixed annual dividend of 15%.
The company could use the proceeds to purchase more Bitcoin, acquire income-producing assets, or repurchase its shares. These options would give Strive several ways to deploy capital following the offering. SATS will rank below Strive's existing perpetual preferred stock, SATA, which currently carries a variable dividend rate of 13%. Both share classes will pay dividends daily.
Meanwhile, Strive plans to establish a dividend reserve at the offering's closing. The reserve will cover the first 18 months of SATS dividend payments. The announcement follows a sharp increase in Strive's Bitcoin reserves. Last week, the company acquired another 3,311 BTC, bringing its total holdings to 32,773 coins.
Those holdings were worth approximately USD 2.7 billion at the reported market price. Three months earlier, Strive held fewer than 20,000 BTC.
Unlike several Bitcoin treasury companies, including the larger Strategy, Strive has continued increasing its holdings in recent weeks.
Bitcoin Price Holds Near USD 83,500 Ahead of Inflation Data
Bitcoin traded within a narrow range Wednesday as investors awaited closely watched U.S. inflation figures. The cryptocurrency declined 0.16% to USD 83,510.40 by 05:13 ET.
Meanwhile, other cryptocurrencies recorded slightly larger losses, extending the market's weak start to October. Profit-taking and reduced risk appetite continued to affect trading activity.
Rising oil prices added another source of concern. Continued military tensions in the Middle East contributed to uncertainty across financial markets.
Traders also avoided larger positions before the inflation release. The upcoming data could provide further information about U.S. price pressures.
Strive's latest acquisition demonstrates continued purchases within its treasury strategy. Still, its proposed USD 500 million offering does not guarantee that all proceeds will fund additional Bitcoin purchases.

Bitcoin Lightning Network Researchers Test Quantum Defense
Alongside corporate accumulation and market uncertainty, researchers are developing security measures against future quantum computing threats.
A team involving East Texas A&M University has created and tested a post-quantum security design for the Bitcoin Lightning Network. The researchers describe their work as the first implementation and evaluation covering Lightning's off-chain systems.
Their paper, PQLN: Post-Quantum Security for the Bitcoin Lightning Network's Off-Chain Surfaces, appeared on arXiv in September. Dr. Ahmet Kurt led the work alongside Abdul-Salem Beibitkhan, Dr. Yacoub Hanna, and Dr. Abdullah Aydeger.
Lightning enables faster Bitcoin payments through connected payment channels. Rather than recording every payment directly on Bitcoin's blockchain, users can transfer funds through these channels.
Yet the network also relies on cryptographic protections that future quantum computers could threaten. Researchers therefore examined ways to protect Lightning's communications and payment systems.
The work also addresses a threat known as harvest now, decrypted later. Under this scenario, attackers collect encrypted communications today and store them until more powerful computers become available.
A future quantum computer could potentially decrypt those records and expose information about earlier transactions. No quantum computer capable of breaking Bitcoin's existing cryptography currently exists.
Conclusion
Strive's proposed USD 500 million offering follows its expansion to 32,773 BTC, while Bitcoin remains under pressure ahead of U.S. inflation data. Meanwhile, researchers are testing quantum-resistant protections for Lightning payments. Together, these developments cover corporate Bitcoin accumulation, short-term market uncertainty, and efforts to address future network security risks.
