The new account drew more than 111,000 followers within hours of going live, according to reports.
XRP has launched its first official account on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. The account is jointly managed by Ripple, the blockchain payments company closely tied to XRP, and the XRP Ledger Foundation, known as XRPLF. Reports indicate the account gathered more than 111,000 followers within its opening hours.
For years, the XRP community relied on a patchwork of unofficial accounts, community-run pages, and individual posts from Ripple executives. No single account carried the authority to speak for the broader XRP Ledger ecosystem. The new account appears designed to close that gap.
Ripple is the private company that developed much of the early infrastructure around XRP and continues to promote its use in cross-border payments. XRPLF, by contrast, operates as a nonprofit steward of the open-source XRP Ledger, overseeing technical development and funding independent of Ripple's corporate interests. A joint account signals an attempt to present a unified public voice spanning both the corporate and foundation sides of the ecosystem.
The rapid follower growth suggests pent-up demand among XRP holders and developers for a trusted, centralized source of information. Cryptocurrency communities often struggle with misinformation and impersonation accounts, particularly on platforms like X where verification systems have changed repeatedly in recent years. An official channel run by recognized organizations can help reduce confusion about announcements, partnerships, or technical updates tied to the XRP Ledger.
The timing of the launch also matters in the context of ongoing institutional attention toward XRP. Ripple has spent years expanding its payments business and engaging with regulators across multiple jurisdictions. XRPLF has worked to expand the ledger's developer base and support decentralized finance applications built on top of it. A shared communications channel could make it easier for both groups to coordinate messaging around future technical upgrades, ecosystem grants, or regulatory developments.
It remains unclear how account management responsibilities will be divided between Ripple and XRPLF going forward. Questions about who will author which types of posts, how disputes over messaging might be resolved, and whether the account will expand to other platforms have not been addressed in available reporting. Those details could shape how much trust the community ultimately places in the account as an authoritative source.
The launch nonetheless marks a notable shift in how the XRP ecosystem presents itself publicly. Previously, followers had to piece together updates from multiple unofficial sources, often leading to confusion over what counted as verified information. A single, jointly operated account offers a more consolidated reference point, even as specifics about its long-term governance remain to be clarified.
Market Impact
The launch of an official XRP account does not directly affect token price or trading activity, and no market data has been reported in connection with the announcement. Its significance lies instead in ecosystem communication and brand consolidation rather than immediate financial metrics.
Over time, clearer and more centralized messaging from Ripple and XRPLF could reduce the spread of misinformation that has periodically affected sentiment around XRP. Analysts and investors who track official statements may find it easier to verify announcements, which could marginally improve information quality across the broader XRP trading community.
The joint account gives XRP a unified public voice for the first time, combining Ripple's corporate reach with XRPLF's technical stewardship. Its long-term impact will depend on how consistently the two organizations manage it together.
