FIRST GEN CORP. will supply renewable energy (RE) to Mother Teresa of Calcutta Medical Center, making it the first hospital in Pampanga to source electricity under the government’s retail aggregation program.
First Gen said in a statement on Thursday that it would supply electricity to the hospital’s buildings and facilities from its Pantabangan-Masiway-Casecnan hydroelectric power complex in Nueva Ecija.
The agreement was made through the retail aggregation program, which allows qualified electricity consumers to combine demand and negotiate directly with their preferred power supplier.
Mother Teresa is part of Mount Grace Hospitals, Inc., the hospital network of the Unilab Group. The deal makes it the 18th hospital in the Mount Grace network to source renewable energy directly from First Gen.
The hospital provides emergency, cancer, cardiology, hemodialysis, kidney transplant, diagnostic, medical, surgical and paramedical services.
First Gen said renewable power could help big electricity users manage energy costs while reducing emissions from round-the-clock operations.
