1. Anyukám Mondta, Encs

The passion and experience that brothers Szabolcs and Szilárd Dudás gained in Italy have helped shape one of Hungary’s most celebrated pizzas. Their light, airy dough, made with a high level of hydration, is based on a recipe that originated near Lake Garda.
Early in their careers, the brothers baked and served 300 pizzas every evening at a restaurant in Dró. Later, in Encs, their business evolved from Sarok Café into Pizza Sarok and eventually into the now-iconic Anyukám Mondta. Its pizzas have earned a reputation for their clean flavours and meticulous preparation.
A constant desire to improve, determination, curiosity and the warmth of a specially built oven are all part of the brothers’ approach. They have also built a close relationship with their customers along the way.
The brothers, who have received the Károly Gundel Lifetime Achievement Award, are affectionately known as the “Italians of Encs”. Their pizzas, along with the restaurant’s many other dishes, capture the relaxed spirit of the Mediterranean, combining good humour with consistently high quality.

2. Circo Pizza

Circo is a stylish yet relaxed dining spot where the distinctive dough of Neapolitan pizzas meets exciting toppings and inventive flavour combinations. Natural wines complete the atmosphere, making it a place to enjoy a drink alongside lunch or dinner – or simply to stop by for a pleasant glass of wine.
3. Avalon Ristorante, Miskolctapolca

Located in the heart of the Bükk Hills, Avalon Ristorante serves authentic, airy Neapolitan pizzas baked in one of the world’s most advanced Morello Forni ovens.
Fresh, local ingredients meet Mediterranean flair, creating a premium dining experience. The restaurant’s elegant yet welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere extends to its pizza offering, making it a destination for those seeking quality food in a distinctive setting.
4. Belli di Mamma

Belli di Mamma gives the atmosphere of a traditional Neapolitan pizzeria a youthful, modern twist. Its long-fermented dough and authentic ingredients produce pizzas that are both refined and full of character, served with genuine hospitality.
5. Fermento Pizzéria

Fermento is one of the freshest names on both the Víziváros and wider Budapest pizza scenes. Its team learnt the craft of dough-making from Italian masters, and the menu features Neapolitan classics, calzone, as well as vegan and gluten-free options.
A spirit of constant renewal and a genuine passion for Italian cuisine underpin the offering.
6. Pizza Manufaktúra

Pizza Manufaktúra is a long-standing favourite among Budapest’s pizza lovers. It serves around 20 varieties of pizza, made with airy dough and carefully chosen ingredients, without compromising on quality.
Its informal, playful atmosphere and personal service have helped turn it into a regular haunt for customers. Its pizzas also compete with those served at its sister venue on Víg Street in terms of the balance between crispness and an airy texture.
7. Zsigmond Terasz & Pince, Tata

Near Tata Castle, Zsigmond Terasz & Pince pairs impressive views with Neapolitan-inspired pizzas. Its dishes combine local traditions with premium Hungarian and Italian ingredients, topped with carefully selected ingredients.
The terrace adds to the experience, making the venue appealing not only for its food but also for its setting.
8. IGEN, Budapest

At IGEN, every bite celebrates the freedom and character of Neapolitan pizza. Expect airy yet flavourful dough, beautifully risen crusts and Mediterranean flavours.
The pizzeria founded by Nóri Vidó respects the strict standards of the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (AVPN), while maintaining a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Here, pizza is both an everyday pleasure and something worth celebrating.
9. Ria Pékség és Pizzéria, Székesfehérvár

Ria Pékség is a place to start the day with sourdough bread and handmade pastries, but its pizzas provide plenty of reasons to return, too.
The thin-crust pizzas are baked in a wood-fired oven, delivering simple yet striking flavours.
10. Il Bandito Pizza Kertje, Nagyrákos

Il Bandito Pizza Kertje is the realisation of a teacher’s dream, brought to life during the summer holidays on the banks of the Zala in Nagyrákos.
In its shady garden, visitors can enjoy sourdough pizzas with beautifully bubbled crusts, including creative regional varieties topped with Hungarian-style ratatouille, túró-style curd cheese with pumpkin seed oil, or porcini mushrooms inspired by the Őrség region.
For hungry walkers exploring the surrounding countryside, it offers a distinctive combination of local flavours, relaxed outdoor dining and handcrafted pizza.
