Foreign Affairs Minister Carlos Espa chaired the High-Level Extraordinary Commission (CEAN) "The Visit of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV," during which progress on preparations was reviewed.
The meeting was attended by Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Paolo Rocco Gualtieri, State ministers, delegates from the government sectors that make up the CEAN, and Catholic Church representatives.
Espa highlighted the sense of responsibility with which preparations have been carried out to ensure the success of the visit, in compliance with the mandate issued by the President of the Republic, Keiko Fujimori.
Likewise, the Cabinet member highlighted the intensive efforts undertaken by all sectors despite the extremely tight deadlines.
During the session, ministers and representatives of the sectors reported on the status of the preparations under their charge.
The two advance missions of the Holy See and the numerous technical visits carried out to the Apostolic Visit venues were also underscored.
A third advance mission was announced for late October, along with new intersectoral technical inspections in the cities the Holy Father will visit.
In turn, the Apostolic Nuncio commended the Government's efforts.
He stressed that this deployment reflects the Peruvian State's attention to the population's religious expression, as well as the deep affection of Peruvian Catholics, who will be able to demonstrate their faith upon the Supreme Pontiff's arrival.
At the end of this meeting, participants expressed their most sincere wishes for the swift and full recovery of His Holiness.
As is known, Pope Leo XIV is expected to visit Peru from November 11-16.
