THE RUNDOWN
- Meghan Markle embraced purple tones for her first public event since her move back to the U.K., wearing a burgundy coat and plum skirt from British designers.
- She notably wore pieces from the same designer she chose during her first-ever royal engagement in 2017.
- Meghan and Harry are meeting with multiple charities in Nottingham today.
For Meghan Markle’s first public event since moving back to the U.K., the Duchess of Sussex leaned into two of fall’s trendiest colors, burgundy and plum—and quietly paid tribute to a royal milestone of hers, too. Meghan joined Prince Harry in Nottingham, where the couple visited Community Recording Studio and food bank Himmah Hub.
Meghan wore all British designers, pairing a burgundy coat, brown turtleneck, and earrings from Joseph with a plum skirt from The Fold London and Jennifer Chamandi heels. The outfit subtly nodded to her first-ever royal engagement with Harry, with Meghan wearing pieces from the same designer, Joseph, that she chose when she visited Community Recording Studio with her then-fiancé in December 2017. (She was in a Joseph skirt then.)
Meghan was in good spirits during the events, telling an onlooker outside of Community Recording Studio, “It’s great to be back,” per People.

The Times first revealed on Saturday that Meghan and Harry would be doing their first event together since their move on Thursday. The British outlet reported that Meghan and Harry would “see projects at three charities that support young people and local communities through music, film, sport and tackling food poverty.”
A friend of the couple told The Times, “Nottingham is a really special place for them, and they are looking forward to getting back out there into the community, together.”
The outlet also reported on Meghan’s work plans, writing that in addition to running her lifestyle brand, As Ever, the duchess is “planning to resume collaborating with some of her charities and patronages from her time as a working royal.”
On October 12, a source spoke to People about how things were going for the couple and their children, Archie and Lilibet, as they settle into their new home. “The kids have adjusted well, and that’s the most important thing to her,” the source said.
“After they first arrived in England, their focus was on establishing a routine and getting the kids settled into school,” the insider continued. “Now they’re both excited to focus more on their work and the projects that matter to them. During the week, while the kids are in school, they’re working. They’re enjoying family weekends together.”
