State Minister for Primary and Mass Education and Dhaka-13 MP Bobby Hajjaj has called for coordinated efforts of garment factory owners and the administration to strengthen security in industrial areas.
He made the call at a view-exchange meeting with garment factory owners organised by the Garment Owners Group at a hotel in Dhanmondi yesterday (24 October).
The meeting discussed in detail the security at garment factories in Mohammadpur and Adabor areas under Dhaka-13, safe commuting of workers, prevention of extortion and snatching, and measures to tackle factory-related criminal activities.
Garment factory owners, police administration and the office of the MP can work hand-in- hand to strengthen security in industrial areas, the state minister said. He added that four patrol vehicles would be deployed, police patrols would be intensified in vulnerable areas, and CCTV surveillance would be expanded at factory entrances and other key locations to provide full-proof security.
The meeting also emphasised -- identifying security risks at factories, ensuring workers' safety, and resolving problems swiftly -- through regular communication and coordination with the relevant authorities.
The concerns and proposals of industry owners were heard attentively at the meeting. The participants expressed their commitment to ensuring a safe working environment through mutual cooperation among the relevant stakeholders.
