Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa, the 2010 British Open champion, has joined the growing list of players leaving LIV Golf.
According to the BBC, Oosthuizen wrote on social media Wednesday that he would leave LIV Golf, calling it "one of the hardest decisions of my life."
The 44-year-old won the 2010 Open Championship and finished runner-up five times across golf's four majors. He also reached a career-high No. 4 in the world rankings.
"I still believe I have a few good years of competitive golf left in me, and to maintain that competitiveness I need to have control over my schedule," Oosthuizen said.
He is expected to return to the DP World Tour next season.
LIV Golf has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States after Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund stopped providing financial backing.
The DP World Tour has also said players who remain with LIV Golf will not be eligible for membership next season.
Sergio Garcia of Spain, Thomas Pieters of Belgium, Abraham Ancer of Mexico, David Puig of Spain and Adrian Meronk of Poland have already left LIV Golf, with Oosthuizen now joining them.
Former world No. 1 Jon Rahm of Spain also announced last week that he was leaving LIV Golf.
LIV Golf, meanwhile, has secured $300 million in financing from investment firm BC Partners Credit as it seeks to continue operating next season and is looking for players willing to make equity investments.
