A post on X questioning reality TV personality Tebogo Thobejane's knowledge went viral on 14 October 2026, racking up thousands of reposts and sparking a heated debate about what she may or may not have known before going public.
Why Thobejane's name is back in the spotlight
The attention on Thobejane comes as a 20-minute audio recording was played during Shadrack Sibiya's bail hearing at the Randburg Magistrate's Court, with the recording linking him to her 2023 attempted murder.
Thobejane's own near-death experience has long been woven into this tangled web. In October 2023, she and two companions narrowly escaped a drive-by shooting in Sandton. One of her friends was left paralysed as a result of the attack. Her former partner, Vusimusi "Cat" Matlala, along with two alleged hitmen, is currently facing the law.
Peeps split over whether Thobejane should be held accountable
The reactions under the post were sharply divided. Some felt she had already done her civic duty, while others believed her timing raised serious questions.
@Sunflowerreal wrote: "Tebogo did her part. The reason you see people being arrested is because of her affidavit; she saved the country."
@LadyM1306 fired back: "Did she report the crime as soon as it happened, or did she only report after they wanted her dead?"
Not everyone agreed that Thobejane should face pressure. @KganediLes pushed back on the original post, writing: "They must also arrest you too because you're confirming the names of those she is purported to know."
@tshepang11ema broadened the conversation: "Madlanga should summon all the slay queens who are implicated to all the crooks they know."
Tebogo turns to God for protection
In a previous report from Briefly News, Tebogo Thobejane shared a cryptic Instagram Stories post on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, referencing God's protection over her life.
The post came on the same day Tsakane Matlala, wife of alleged crime boss Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala, was arrested in connection with a suspected fraudulent lease agreement.
