Dutch chip-machine maker ASML had a record third quarter, with sales of €11.7 billion and net profit of €5 billion. That is well up from the €2.1 billion profit last year.
ASML is benefiting from the boom in AI, with customers continuously raising their forecasts for how many machines they will need.
That puts pressure on ASML to make more machines. The company had planned to raise capacity by 30% in 2027, with a possible further 30% in 2028, but now says even that will not fully meet customer demand.
Sales of upgrades for existing machines also rose above expectations, reaching €3.3 billion, helping push the profit margin to 57.5%.
ASML expects fourth-quarter sales of between €14.2 billion and €15.2 billion, and between €44 billion and €45 billion for the full year. Shareholders will receive an interim dividend of €1.88 per share in November.
