Women’s church groups are being encouraged to focus on development projects that strengthen their churches and benefit their communities.
The Catholic Women Association (CWA) in the Diocese of Zomba has set an example by purchasing a 32-seater bus to support its activities and contribute to the development of the diocese.
Bishop Alfred Mateyu Chaima commended the women for the achievement during a Holy Mass to bless the bus at the Bishop’s House.
He urged CWA members to remain united and prayerful, saying their collective efforts could help them achieve more development goals.
“Do not allow Satan to tempt you. Continue working hard to develop the Diocese of Zomba. The most important thing is to remain united and prayerful,” said Chaima.

The bishop also challenged other associations within the Catholic Church to follow CWA’s example by investing in projects that contribute to the development of their dioceses.
He said women were playing a leading role in development activities in the Diocese of Zomba, likening their contribution to the role of the Blessed Virgin Mary in fulfilling God’s will.
CWA chairperson Christina Lakiyoni thanked God and everyone who supported the bus purchase, crediting the achievement to the unity and cooperation of women across the diocese.
She said the association would continue pursuing development projects to become financially self-reliant and contribute further to the growth of the Diocese of Zomba.
