Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer defended his team's effort but not the results after Sunday night's loss to the Packers.
On a night when Dak Prescott threw two interceptions, Schottenheimer pointed the finger at turnovers.
"The effort is right, the fight is right, but mistakes are killing us," Schottenheimer said. "We've got to protect the football."
At 2-4, the Cowboys are not a good team right now, but there are no good teams in the NFC East and the Cowboys are actually the betting favorites to win the division. Schottenheimer thinks there's still a future for his team.
"We're in a hole. We've put ourselves there. There's one way out of it. I told our guys we've got to work, we've got to find solutions, we can't repeat mistakes. And they understand that," Schottenheimer said.
Although Schottenheimer defended Prescott's effort, he made clear that he wasn't happy about the interceptions.
"The ball matters more than anything in the National Football League," Schottenheimer said. "It's the ball. Second, it's the line of scrimmage. And we haven't been very good in the last two games, so that's what we're responsible and accountable for, and I stand up here and accept that."
