Chief Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general election, has been commended for prioritising projects and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of the people, as community leaders across the district declared support for his senatorial ambition.
The commendation came on Thursday when Nwankwo, popularly known as Onyendozi, hosted a cross-section of his constituents at his campaign headquarters in Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
During the meeting, the APGA candidate reiterated his commitment to people-oriented initiatives designed to improve livelihoods, promote self-reliance, equip residents with productive skills and create opportunities for economic advancement.
Addressing the enthusiastic supporters, Nwankwo urged them to vote massively for him and APGA in the January 16, 2027 senatorial election, saying his ambition was driven by a desire to improve the living conditions of families, young people, adults and employable citizens across the district.
He said his aspiration to represent Anambra Central in the Senate was motivated by his desire to use public office to improve lives and expand opportunities for the people.
“The power I seek to go to the Senate is to do good to all,” he said.
Nwankwo added that he envisioned a constituency where residents would become productive, economically independent and capable of creating employment opportunities for others.
According to him, his goal is to transform citizens and residents of Anambra Central into employers of labour and active contributors to the development of their communities.
He also expressed his desire to use the Senate as a platform to support skills development, encourage productive enterprise and promote the export of skilled labour and locally made products.
The candidate, while highlighting what he described as the achievements of the APGA-led Anambra State Government, said he intended to build on the party’s development efforts by pursuing initiatives that would directly benefit the people.
His remarks attracted applause from the gathering, with supporters expressing optimism about his aspiration and pledging to mobilise voters ahead of the election.
A community leader from Abagana, Chief Okey Nwude, commended Nwankwo for what he described as projects that had positively affected lives and contributed to development in the state.
Nwude urged eligible voters across the senatorial district to turn out early on January 16, 2027, and cast their votes for the APGA candidate.
He described the election as an opportunity to elect a representative he considered young, intelligent and capable of articulating the needs of the people at the National Assembly.
The Abagana leader said the decision by stakeholders to support Nwankwo, popularly known as Onyendozi, was based on their confidence in his capacity to represent the district.
He argued that the constituency needed an energetic and informed representative who could effectively present its interests and pursue development-oriented legislation.
Another stakeholder, Hon. Atuegbu Emmanuel, a community leader from Njikoka Local Government Area, described Nwankwo as a well-known son of the area whose background and antecedents were familiar to the people.
Atuegbu said the support for the candidate reflected the willingness of community stakeholders to unite behind his ambition, adding that residents were prepared to mobilise for the election.
He also commended elders, women, youths and other residents across the seven local government areas that make up Anambra Central Senatorial District for their commitment to the campaign.
The seven local government areas are Njikoka, Dunukofia, Anaocha, Idemili North, Idemili South, Awka North and Awka South.
Atuegbu expressed confidence that the combined efforts of the various groups would strengthen Nwankwo’s chances of securing victory on the platform of APGA.
The community leaders’ endorsements come as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general election, with candidates and political parties seeking to consolidate grassroots support across Anambra State.
Nwankwo is expected to rely on his campaign’s emphasis on people-oriented projects, skills development and economic empowerment as he seeks the mandate to represent Anambra Central in the Senate.
