NORTHERN Ghana is emerging as a promising investment destination, with 128 project profiles from the five northern regions among more than 600 received nationwide, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA), Simon Madjie, has said.
The profiles originated from the Northern, Upper East, Upper West, North East and Savannah regions during a strategic investment roadshow held across the country.
Mr Madjie disclosed this at an investment roadshow in Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional capital.
The event, organised by GIPA in collaboration with MTN Ghana and supported by the Office of the Chief of Staff, the Ministry of Trade and Agribusiness, the Ghana Export Promotion Authority and the Ghana Free Zones Authority, among others, brought together investors and stakeholders from various sectors of the economy.

“Northern Ghana is no longer a frontier of potential. It is a destination of opportunity. Through this roadshow, we are taking investment opportunities directly to the market, building strategic partnerships and creating pathways for investors to take part in the region’s transformation,” he said.
Mr Madjie, who was represented by the Head of Investment Promotion and Business Development, Kwame Kesse-Agyepong, said the number of project profiles received from the north showed the region’s readiness to play a greater role in Ghana’s and West Africa’s economic growth.
Held on the theme, “Driving Local Investment: Unlocking Regional Potential, Mapping Opportunities, and Mobilising Growth in the Northern, North-East, Upper East, Upper West and Savannah Regions,” the roadshow formed part of a broader strategy to showcase investment opportunities across the country.
It was also intended to attract domestic and international investors to the forthcoming Invest Ghana Summit, scheduled for November this year.
The Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Atanga Akamugre, commended GIPA and its partners for organising the roadshow, saying the region was ready to turn its investment potential into enterprises, jobs, incomes and lasting prosperity.
He said the Upper East Region, with an estimated population of 1.3 million, had significant investment opportunities supported by a resilient agricultural base, natural resources and a rich cultural heritage.
Mr Kesse-Agyepong said the programme was designed to connect identified projects with potential investors and accelerate investment in underserved regions to promote inclusive economic growth.
“Through the roadshow, GIPA is taking a decisive step towards converting opportunities into enterprises, partnerships and jobs, ensuring that investment-led growth reaches every part of the country and contributes to a more balanced and prosperous national economy,” he said.
The event brought together local investors, businesspeople and development partners to explore ways of unlocking the economic potential of the region.
