The Seattle Seahawks are still searching for answers in the backfield, and the numbers coming out of Kansas City are not making it any easier to move on from Kenneth Walker III.
Through six games, Seahawks running backs have combined for 539 rushing yards, according to Ari Meirov. Walker has 537 rushing yards by himself in just four games with the Kansas City Chiefs.
It is the kind of stat that has Seattle fans looking back on what used to be.

Walker was the hero of the Seahawks’ Super Bowl LX run, rushing for 135 yards in a 29-13 win over the New England Patriots in February and earning Super Bowl MVP honors. Weeks later, he left in free agency, agreeing to a three-year deal with the Chiefs worth up to $45 million.
The move has worked out about as well as Kansas City could have hoped. Walker has carried the ball 87 times for 537 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 6.2 yards per carry. He leads the NFL with 134.3 rushing yards per game and has also added 84 receiving yards and two touchdowns through the air.
His best outing came in a Week 4 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, when he ran for 177 yards and two scores. The Chiefs are 4-0 and coming off their bye week, so Walker has had one fewer game to pile up those numbers.
Seattle, meanwhile, has struggled to replace him. First-round pick Jadarian Price showed promise early but landed on injured reserve with a chest injury. Without him, Emanuel Wilson and George Holani have handled most of the work, and the results have been uneven. In last week’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the pair combined for 68 yards on 24 carries.
The lack of a reliable ground game has put more weight on Sam Darnold’s shoulders. He threw 51 passes in Thursday night’s 17-14 overtime loss to the Denver Broncos, which dropped the defending champions to 3-3.
Walker will look to keep his hot start going on Sunday when the Chiefs host the winless Los Angeles Chargers. For Seattle, getting Price back healthy may be the best hope of closing the gap.
