Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are today due to arrive in Nottingham to complete three charity visits, their first joint appearances since relocating to Britain from America in August.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are revisiting the same English city where Meghan conducted her first official royal engagements back in December 2017, a month after they got engaged.
Why It Matters
There has already been debate in Britain about whether the events will closely resemble the work of the official royals and thereby pose a threat to the monarchy. The couple remain "private citizens" rather than working royals, according to a letter sent on behalf of King Charles III in September.

Harry and Meghan will visit The Community Recording Studio (CRS), set up in 1991, which offers young people access to film, video and music production equipment and training.
The charity talks about its origins on its website: "The aim then was stated simply, and has not changed since: help young people develop their skills and get into work. What made it unusual was not the ambition but the access.
"At a time when studio time was expensive and gatekept, CRS put professional recording equipment in the hands of young people from one of the most deprived neighborhoods in England, and did not charge them for it."
Harry last visited in September 2025 when he stressed the benefit the charity offered the community as a counter point to violence in the area.
"Nottingham has been a place where I've heard harrowing stories, learned important lessons, seen resilience, and felt truly inspired," he said.
"The challenges remain serious and sadly aren't getting any easier. Violence impacting young people, particularly knife crime, continues to devastate lives, cut futures short, and leave families in grief."
The Hubb Central Kitchen
Meghan and Harry will visit the city's Himmah food bank where they will meet members of the Hubb Community Kitchen, volunteers who cooked for survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire, which killed 72 people in London in June 2017.
The duchess produced Together: Our Community Cookbook with the women who staffed the kitchen with proceeds going to charity.
Meghan wrote a foreword to accompany the recipes, which read: "An apron was quickly wrapped around me, I pushed up my sleeves and I found myself washing the rice for lunch…All the aromas percolating in a kitchen filled with countless languages aflutter remains one of my most treasured memories from my first visit to the kitchen.
"I immediately felt connected to this community kitchen; it is a place for women to laugh, grieve, cry and cook together. Melding cultural identities under a shared roof, it creates space to feel a sense of normalcy—in its simplest form, the universal need to connect, nurture, and commune through food, through crisis or joy—something we can all relate to."
In 2022, the group revealed on social media that they had received a message from Meghan to mark the five-year anniversary of the tragedy: "Always very thoughtful, today we received a lovely voice message from the Duchess, being the five years anniversary of the Grenfell tragedy, asking how we are, about our children and families and giving us news of hers. Just being her beautiful kind self."
Harry and Meghan's Trip to Epic Partners
The couple's final publicized stop of the day is to Epic Partners, a group which supports young people through clubs, activities and holiday camps.
Harry first worked with the organization as far back as 2013 and Meghan also met members when the couple first visited Nottingham in 2017.
The organization's website reads: "Epic Partners is a local charity dedicated to empowering positive change for children and young people in the communities of Nottingham. We deliver inclusive sports, youth, and mentoring programs that support those facing challenges such as Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and social exclusion.
"Through safe spaces, trusted adult relationships, and positive activities, we help young people build confidence, develop life skills, and make informed choices about their future."
