Minnie Dlamini is back in the headlines after a clip from her 947 interview resurfaced online, and this time it's not for a good reason. The presenter sat down with Thando Thabethe for the "947 Drive With Thando" segment on Friday, 9 October 2026, where she detailed how she and former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune first got together — and social media quickly turned on her for it.
In the interview, Minnie revealed that their relationship started when Siphiwe "Shabba" Tshabalala reached out to her on Khune's behalf, asking if he could pass along her number. She recalled the first time they actually met in person: Khune drove out to pick her up from the airport after she returned from a short trip home.
"I thought he was just going to wait outside because people know who he was," she said, adding that she was surprised to find him standing at arrivals while about ten security personnel watched over his car outside.
The relationship lasted just under two years, and Minnie admitted she went in with full commitment.
"I'm a lover girl," she told Thando. "When I get into a relationship, this is it. I'm done. I'm getting married."
Mzansi turns on Minnie over Khune comments
X user @visse_ss was among the loudest voices calling out Minnie, writing:
"Why does Minnie Dlamini keep bringing up her past relationship with Itumeleng Khune in interview after interview? Khune is married now, building his life with his beautiful family. Let that man move on in peace!"
The post continued:
"Some people need to understand that a relationship ending doesn't give you a lifetime pass to keep dragging the past into the present. Stop reopening old chapters in someone else's life just because yours hasn't turned out the way you hoped."

Not everyone agreed with that take, though. The reactions were sharply divided:
@88mabilisa pushed back on the criticism:
"The question should be, 'Why did Thando ask her?' because all Minnie did was answer questions asked."
@Diaryofazulugal offered a broader perspective:
"The truth is that relationship is at some point defined, and it's part of her identity. It was a public relationship which had everyone commenting even at the time. It will follow her forever, and because she lived it, she has every right to bring it up."
@007druza raised a double standard:
"If it was a man doing what Minnie is doing, they would call him obsessed and creepy."
@SamukelisiweMz4 sided with the critics:
"Yohhhh… I wouldn't like this if he was my husband. It's like she is obsessed."
@The_SpectatorSA kept it brief:
"Could've, should've...the train is long gone."
@GeneralDonjulio defended Khune's composure:
"Khune deals with her professionally, so this doesn't drag on social platforms…he gives her the silent treatment and ignores everything she says. Even the lovely wife is so well-mannered, Yezwa!"
