Amy Winehouse‘s band held a star-studded show at London’s Roundhouse to celebrate 20 years of ‘Back To Black’, and it featured Mark Ronson, Corinne Bailey Rae and more. Check out footage from the night below.
The ‘Back To Black 20’ concert took place at the iconic Camden venue last night (Wednesday October 21), just days before the 20th anniversary of Winehouse’s landmark second album.
At the event, The Amy Winehouse Band broke out the ‘Back To Black’ tracklist in full, joined by original album producers Ronson and Salaam Remi. Also on hand for the night included the late singer’s longtime musical director Dale Davis, producers Paul O’Duffy and p*nut, and former Island Records president Darcus Beese.
Throughout the set, they were joined by an impressive number of guest vocalists, including Baby Rose, Corinne Bailey Rae, Sasha Keable, Skye Newman, FLO, Jessie Reyez, Jorja Smith, Lianne La Havas, Nia Smith and Yebba.
The latter performed the fan favourite track ‘Love Is A Losing Game’ alongside Winehouse’s band, while FLO took to the stage to share their admiration for the late jazz star and put their own spin on her track ‘He Can Only Hold Her’.
The iconic title track was covered by Corinne Bailey Rae on the night, and joined by Winehouses’ longtime collaborator Mark Ronson, who played piano alongside her for the stripped back set.
Another fan favourite, ‘Valerie’ was performed towards the end of the night, with all of the guest performers on stage together and taking it in turns for the vocals. Earlier in the night, it was Nia Smith who took on ‘Tears Dry On Their Own’, Terri Walker who performed ‘Me & Mr Jones’, Lianne La Havas who played ‘You Know I’m No Good’.
Baby Rose played ‘Wake Up Alone’, Jorja Smith played ‘Some Unholy War’, and it was Jessie Reyez who took on the huge smash hit ‘Rehab’.
“I’m honoured to be asked to come celebrate Amy alongside Salaam and some amazing artists worthy of singing her songs,” said Ronson when the gig was announced. “Doing justice to the legacy of ‘Back To Black’ is the order of the night.”
Remi shared: “Funny how time flies! I can’t believe it’s been 20 years already. I’m excited to see what these ladies bring to their versions of these songs we know and love.”
The full show will be broadcast on BBC later this month as the centrepiece of a night of programming celebrating Winehouse, and BBC Radio 2 will air the audio from the show on October 26 between 7pm and 9pm as part of Jo Whiley’s programme.

The Roundhouse has particular significance in Winehouse’s story. It was the site of her final public appearance on July 20, 2011, when she joined her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield on stage during the iTunes Festival. Winehouse danced with Bromfield and encouraged the crowd to buy her album ‘Good For The Soul’. The singer died three days later at her Camden home, aged 27.
‘Back To Black’ was originally released on October 27 2006 and went on to sell more than 25million copies worldwide. Winehouse won five awards at the 2008 Grammys for the record and its singles, including Record Of The Year for ‘Rehab’, Song Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.

The performance at the Roundhouse formed part of a wider programme of events marking the anniversary of ‘Back To Black’, and a deluxe 20th anniversary reissue of the record also on the way.
Set to arrive tomorrow (Friday October 23) via UMR/Island on October 23, the expanded edition will include four previously unreleased demos, rare B-sides and bonus tracks, as well as Winehouse’s February 8, 2007 show at Amsterdam’s Paradiso from the ‘Back To Black’ tour.
