BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 21. About 2.3 million households are operating in Azerbaijan, Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, Bahar Muradova, said at a Family Forum themed "Family in the digital age: new frontiers of transformation" in Baku on Wednesday, Trend’s correspondent reports from the event.
She remarked that the role of the family is unequivocally indispensable when it comes to the digital safety of children.
"Beyond simply protecting a child and monitoring their internet usage, it is crucial to teach them how to make the right choices, critically evaluate information, and safeguard their personal boundaries and rights.
To achieve this, parents themselves must learn; first and foremost, they should listen to their children and build a relationship based on trust. They must also influence their children by setting an example of responsible behavior within the digital environment. Furthermore, the well-being of a family depends on a healthy lifestyle, psychological comfort, and the time that family members dedicate to one another," she explained.
Muradova noted that there are nearly 2.3 million households in the country.
"Of these, more than 1.3 million are families with children under the age of 18. These figures place a responsibility upon each of us regarding the strengthening of the institution of the family. The number of households, as well as the composition of large families and the diverse family structures within them, require us to take these factors into account, both in our policies and in the mechanisms we implement.
As a state committee, we are currently working on a 'Family Concept.' This draft has been sent to the relevant institutions; their proposals will be incorporated, and subsequently, public discussions will be held. We'll listen to the views of everyone, Azerbaijani families, relevant specialists, and experts, i.e., anyone who has the opportunity to contribute to this initiative," she added.
