Amritprabha Mahanta was released from Haflong Jail at around 6:30 am on Tuesday after securing bail from the Gauhati High Court in connection with the Zubeen Garg death case.
She was granted bail on a bond of Rs 50,000, following which she walked out of the prison.
Amritprabha's family members had arrived in Haflong on Monday ahead of her release. Soon after she came out of jail, her family took her away in a black Thar vehicle.
Her release comes after the Gauhati High Court granted her bail in the case on Friday.
Amritprabha Mahanta was arrested on October 2, 2025, by the Assam Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the death of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore.
Garg died on September 19, 2025, while swimming in the sea during a yacht outing near Lazarus Island in Singapore. He was in the country to attend the North East India Festival.
Following his death, the Assam government formed an SIT to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Several people who had accompanied Garg to Singapore were subsequently arrested as part of the investigation.
Amritprabha, a co-singer who had travelled with Garg, was among those arrested. The SIT later chargesheeted her along with festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, Garg's manager Siddhartha Sharma and musician Shekhar Jyoti Goswami for alleged murder and criminal conspiracy.
Amritprabha remained in judicial custody at Haflong Jail after her arrest. An earlier bail plea was rejected by a court in January 2026.
