How does Brookside give back?
For over two decades, the company has backed the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) games, among the most visible fixtures on the national school sports calendar.
The competitions bring together students in basketball, hockey, rugby, athletics, swimming, netball and cross-country, and recent editions have attracted sponsorship contributions in the region of KSh 30 million, covering playing kits, logistics and associated costs.

Beyond the financial support, the games act as a talent showcase, with strong performers earning pathways to East African secondary school championships.
Linked directly to this sporting investment is the Brookside Strathmore University Sports Scholarship, which offers up to six fully paid university places at Strathmore University annually.
The programme targets students who have demonstrated exceptional ability in basketball or hockey and requires solid academic results alongside sporting performance.
Scholarship holders join the university's competitive teams, allowing them to pursue higher education without putting their sporting development on hold.
Brookside’s Maths contest
Away from the sports pitch, Brookside runs the Mathletes Programme, a nationwide mathematics competition for secondary schools.
The contest draws hundreds of schools and tens of thousands of students each year, with the stated aim of changing the perception that mathematics is an unusually difficult subject.
Top performers have walked away with university scholarships to Strathmore, sometimes in mathematics-related disciplines, while their schools and mathematics departments have received cash prizes.
Form Three students who finish among the winners have also been given one-year fee support to complete their secondary schooling without financial disruption.
These initiatives sit alongside Brookside's other community work, which includes school milk distribution in selected regions and support for smallholder farmers who supply the company's processing facilities.
The Kenyatta family's broader philanthropic vehicle, the Kenyatta Trust, runs a separate Academic Scholarships Programme targeting high-performing students from financially constrained backgrounds across all 47 counties.
Details on eligibility and application windows for both the Brookside programmes are published on the company's community pages.
How to qualify for the Kenyatta Trust Scholarship
The Kenyatta Trust offers scholarships to bright students from disadvantaged backgrounds, covering tuition, learning materials and living expenses from secondary school to university.
More than 3,000 learners from across Kenya have benefited from the programme, which also provides mentorship and career guidance. Applicants must demonstrate academic ability, financial need, leadership and discipline.
