Cullen and Jones go way back with Cullen having been named defensive line coach in 2022. Jones has three Super Bowl rings from 2019, 2022 and 2023, positioning himself as a respected leader of the Chiefs’ defense. He is also one of the emotional leaders of the team whose fiery disposition helps to excite and motivate his teammates on the field.
The Chiefs’ emotions were channeled in a position direction during Week 6 as they made easy work of Jim Harbaugh’s reeling Los Angeles Chargers. They opened up a 19-3 halftime lead and coasted to a 22-6 win, sending the Chargers to 0-6 on the season. Jones’ Chiefs are now 5-0 and in the AFC West driver’s seat headed toward the midway point of the season.
Jones had two tackles and 0.5 sacks against the Chargers, once again making his presence felt. Fans continued to wonder what his conversation was about with Cullen, while celebrating another big win as Kansas City has begun to look like a Super Bowl favorite yet again. Rumors about possible trades for wide receiver help have surfaced lately around the Chiefs, but Reid’s team looks as strong as they come after taking care of business at home.
