The ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has disrupted examinations and other academic activities at the Taraba State University, Jalingo.
The university’s Registrar, Dr Joseph Umar Bibinu, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the industrial action had caused uncertainty among students and their parents, particularly as examinations were underway.
According to the statement, the strike commenced on Monday, October 12, 2026, disrupting the academic calendar and raising concerns over the timely completion of scheduled examinations.
The university management disclosed that the Taraba State Government had established a committee to review the salary structure of staff in the state’s tertiary institutions as part of efforts to address the dispute.
It expressed hope that dialogue between the government and other stakeholders would lead to a resolution of the crisis and facilitate the resumption of normal academic activities.
The management urged students to remain calm and avoid any actions capable of disrupting peace and order within the university community.
It also advised students to monitor official university announcements for updates on when examinations and other academic activities would resume.
