The Bangladesh High Commission in London has said its official website is secure and that it has no direct control over visa-related servers, which are managed centrally by the relevant authorities in Bangladesh.
In a press release issued today (24 October), the mission dismissed social media reports about its operations as misleading and baseless, warning that misinformation could damage its reputation and create confusion among Bangladeshis living in the United Kingdom.
The High Commission said its official web portal was secure, adding that there was no reasonable basis for claims questioning its security or functionality.
It clarified that visa-related servers and associated technical systems are managed centrally by the relevant authorities in Bangladesh. The mission therefore has no direct control over, or scope to intervene in, their operation, maintenance or technical management.
It also said the High Commission should not be held responsible for technical or operational problems involving the visa servers.
The mission said it makes every effort to provide visa and other consular services promptly when applicants submit all required documents and information correctly.
Protecting the interests and welfare of Bangladeshis living in the UK and providing them with necessary consular services remain its priorities, the statement said.
The High Commission also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining strong ties with the expatriate community, assisting them with matters concerning their legitimate rights and interests, and upholding Bangladesh's image abroad.
It urged people with questions, complaints or concerns about its operations not to rely solely on information circulating on social media. Instead, it advised them to verify claims through the mission's official communication channels or contact the High Commission directly.
The statement said greater awareness, responsible conduct, and mutual cooperation would help counter misinformation and ensure a more accurate understanding of the mission's activities.
