The Pittsburgh Steelers overcame a 16-3 fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and get to 4-2 on the season. They now sit atop the division with the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens, both of whom are also 4-2 on the year after Cleveland defeated Baltimore. The Steelers wouldn’t have been able to complete their comeback, though, had it not been for the Herculean effort of rookie wide receiver Germie Bernard.
The second-round pick hauled in 11 receptions for 87 yards and the game-winning touchdown in overtime, which was the first of his career. His 11 receptions are a Steelers single-game record for rookie receivers. In his last two games combined, Bernard has 17 receptions for 171 yards.
Bernard has been exactly what Pittsburgh was hoping he’d be when they traded up to draft him back in April. His 24 receptions are second only to Metcalf on the team, and his target success rate of 53.1 percent leads all Steelers wide receivers, per Sumer Sports.
