Transit Cape Breton routes one and two will not be travelling through downtown Glace Bay due to a road closure on Union and Commercial streets on Oct. 30.
After last Thursday’s service, routes one and two will travel only as far as Blairs Furniture on Union Street before returning. Routes three and four will operate as usual. Transit users are asked to plan accordingly and allow extra time for travel.
On Saturday, Charlotte Street will be closed from Dorchester to Townsend streets, including the corresponding side streets, from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m., to accommodate Halloween activities in downtown Sydney.
The Halloween event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead and use an alternate route during the closure.
The municipality has also issued traffic and transit advisories for North Sydney on Oct. 29.
The first block of Commercial Street, between Blowers Street and Court Street, will be closed to traffic from 5:30 to 7 p.m., to accommodate Halloween activities in downtown North Sydney.
During that time, Transit Cape Breton route five trips departing Sydney for Sydney Mines at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. will detour and not pick up riders at two stops on King Street, between Summer and Commercial streets.
The bus will turn left from King Street onto Pleasant Street, right onto Archibald Avenue, left onto Prince Street, then left onto Blowers Street.
Regular routes will resume at 7 p.m.
