Shroff’s driver and another auto-rickshaw driver were injured in the incident, which occurred at about 7pm.
A VEHICLE carrying Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff was fired upon by a group of armed men in the Juhu area on Sunday.
According to The Hindu, Shroff’s driver and another auto-rickshaw driver were injured in the incident, which occurred at about 7pm.
Shroff reportedly escaped without sustaining any serious injuries.
Police have arrested a suspect to assist in investigations into the incident, which has renewed concerns over celebrity safety and a resurgence of gang-related violence in India’s entertainment industry.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg said the incident occurred as Shroff was leaving the location after completing his work.
However, Garg declined to comment on a social media post by a gang claiming responsibility for the attack.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis reportedly contacted Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti, directing him to ensure an immediate investigation and take firm action against those involved.
Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also contacted Shroff to assure him that the authorities would take firm action over the incident.
Speaking to The Hindu, Shinde condemned the attack and stressed that the government would not tolerate criminal groups attempting to intimidate members of the film industry.
The incident also drew criticism from opposition leaders, who questioned whether criminals in Maharashtra still feared the consequences of the law.
Film director Ashoke Pandit also expressed concern over the growing sense of insecurity among members of the film industry following a shooting at Shetty’s bungalow and the latest attack.
