Matthew McConaughey is not planning on exiting his tequila brand anytime soon.
The actor and his wife, Camila, are co-founders of Pantalones Organic Tequila, which launched in 2023.
The spirit brand initially gained attention because of its cheeky marketing campaigns featuring McConaughey.
Pantalones touts core aspects of its award-winning tequila, including that it features 100 percent USDA-certified organic blue Weber agave. “The world doesn’t need another celebrity Tequila,” the company’s site reads. “But goodness gracious the Tequila industry sure could use a shot of fun. And that’s exactly what Pantalones is: Really good, really clean fun. 100% Premium Organic Tequila. 0% Organic Pretentiousness.”

On a recent episode of Daniel Lubetzky’s podcast, Build or Break, McConaughey was asked whether he would “build or break” his tequila company. He was definitive in his answer: “build.”
“We still got work to do and we still love doing it. Camila and I, and the team right now, we’re chugging on it and trying to build it,” McConaughey said when asked about a potential exit.
That team includes Pantalones co-founders Guillaume Cuvelier and Andrew T. Chrisomalis, who also serves as the brand’s board chairman.
