Cool and overcast conditions did not deter Hillarys Yacht Club racers as they started the Keelboat summer season on Sunday.
A fleet of 17 yachts took part in the first official point scoring event of the season between Hillarys Boat Harbour and North Beach, where south-south easterly winds provided a competitive challenge.
John Bird won first division on handicap sailing yacht Perle, ahead of Crowded House skippered by Tony Weymouth.
Jos Colvin’s Wild One was the fastest yacht.
In division two, Kevin Meta won aboard Volant, followed by Des Riley aboard Farrouk, and Covert Operation skippered by Bart Brouwer was the fastest yacht.
Solo sailor Darren Marshall won division three in Bilgola and Laraine Brindle came second in Stelfred.
The event was the first of eight in the consistency series.
Hillarys Yacht Club’s first race in the Ocean Series is on October 26. Yachts will start and finish from Hillarys Boat Harbour.
