The Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays will meet for what's expected to be a very exciting World Series. In Game 1, we'll get to watch a guy like Jacob Misiorowski toe the rubber and throw at a level we haven't really seen before in this league, at least in the World Series.
Game 1 of the World Series won't make or break the series, but the Brewers and Rays have to feel that if they get off to a good start, they're in a better position than if they don't.
The Rays also have one of their big-time arms ready to go, with right-hander Nick Martinez expected to start Game 1.
It was surprising that Drew Rasmussen didn’t get the ball, as Rasmussen is among the best starters in Major League Baseball and has been lights out all year, posting a 2.67 ERA in the regular season.
He's also been lights out in the postseason, posting a one-hit, eight-inning showing against the New York Yankees in the ALDS, plus two starts against the Cleveland Guardians in which he went at least 6.0 innings and allowed only one and two runs, respectively.
But for Misiorowski, there is more for all baseball fans to consider.
We'll get to see somebody make history, as his fastball is going to light up the radar gun. According to the latest, there's only been one pitch thrown by a starter in a World Series game at 101-plus miles per hour since 2008. Misiorowski is bound to change that in a major way.
“Only 1 pitch has been thrown by a starting pitcher in a World Series game at 101+ MPH in the entire pitch tracking era (2008-now).
“That is about to change,” Codify Baseball wrote.
There's a very good chance we'll see 101-plus from Misiorowski throughout the game, and he'll probably have a couple of 103-pluses.
This is a guy who has a fastball that we've never seen before from a starting pitcher, and while some Major League Baseball fans might not love that it's two small-market teams going at it, we're going to see a boatload of talent, and he's one of the guys who's going to provide that.
