GIMHAE — A fourth couple is set to marry through "I Am Gimhae Solo," a matchmaking program for single men and women run by the city of Gimhae in South Gyeongsang Province. The first couple emerged last year after the program began in 2023, and three more pairs have formed this year, including one couple scheduled to wed in December.
"I Am Gimhae Solo" offers single men and women natural opportunities to meet, with the aim of fostering positive attitudes toward dating and marriage. The program has been held seven times so far, drawing 180 participants.
The city has strengthened policy support this year to help those matches lead to marriage. Under a project called "The Wedding Most Like Us," Gimhae subsidizes ceremonies held at distinctive local venues including public facilities, religious sites and cafes. Each couple receives up to 1 million won in Gimhae Love gift certificates to cover studio photography, dresses, hair and makeup. The eighth round of the program will be held on the 24th and 25th of this month.
