KUALA LUMPUR: i-City has launched AI Living @ i-City, a residential concept combining home automation, robotics, wellness technology and artificial intelligence (AI), with its first development comprising 500 units.
The development, centred on the i-Ris residential tower, is designed to accommodate domestic robots through layouts, circulation paths, service areas and infrastructure planned around their use alongside residents.
At the centre of the concept is i-Ris, an AI companion intended to help residents control home functions and access authorised technologies and services based on their needs and preferences.
The developer is rolling out a digital marketing campaign from October 2026 to introduce the concept to prospective homebuyers, ahead of the planned opening of a residence showroom at the AI World Experience Centre (AIWEC) in January 2027.
Datuk Firdaus, chairman of Firdaus & Associates (the development's lead marketing agency), said the campaign aims to explain how AI and robotics could be incorporated into residential living, including home security, elderly care and lifestyle management.
Savills Malaysia group managing director Datuk Sr Paul Khong said AI-based services and robotics could become another factor influencing homebuyers' property choices, alongside location, design, facilities and price.
AI Living builds on i-City's technology-focused development, which includes AIWEC, established in collaboration with Chinese robotics company AgiBot.
The centre showcases more than 100 robots in interactive settings.
i-City chairman Tan Sri Lim Kim Hong said the concept reflects the developer's view that homes would increasingly use technology to respond to residents' needs.
The planned showroom will allow prospective buyers to explore selected features of the concept and learn more about the i-Ris development.
However, the developer has yet to disclose the residential units' prices or provide details on the costs of maintaining and upgrading the technology over time.
