Trump Calls Reporters ‘Dummy’ and ‘Stupid’ in Latest Media Clashes

President Trump has clashed once again with the press while fielding questions over Russia in which he called reporters “stupid” and told them, “you don’t know anything.”

While departing the White House for a rally in South Carolina, the president was questioned by journalists after Russia reported the release of 74-year-old Stephen Hubbard, a retired teacher from Michigan, who had been jailed for six years and 10 months in 2024 for allegedly fighting for Ukraine.

CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins asked Trump about the claim that Putin asked for nothing in exchange for Hubbard’s release. Trump said: “If I didn’t do that, you wouldn’t have Mr. Hubbard coming back."

“So you did give something?” Collins asked.

It was then that the president lashed out. “You don’t know anything. You’re fake news CNN,” he said. In another moment, he told Collins: “You don’t know what you’re talking about. You’re a low IQ person. You’re a dummy.”

It was not just CNN that the president hit out at during the short interaction with the press. In another interaction, an ABC reporter asked, “How is waving those sanctions on Russia to secure the release of Hubbard not giving something to Russia in exchange?”

Trump replied, “Are you a stupid person? Who do you work for?”

When he was told ABC News, the president replied, “You’re a stupid person. And by the way, your network is the worst of all.”

This is far from the first time the president has clashed with members of the press in recent months. A series of fiery exchanges with female journalists have been recorded, including telling reporters they are “terrible,” “stupid,” and “dumb.”

In September the president announced he was banning CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House, accusing them of being “fake news.”

The White House revoked the journalists' credentials, but on September 24, U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly ordered the administration to “immediately return, reinstate, and restore” their access.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
