Four people were injured in a stabbing early Saturday morning just before 3 a.m. at a nightclub in the Granville Entertainment District in Vancouver.
The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is investigating the violent altercation and also refers to the location of the incident as a bar.
VPD officers responded to reports of a stabbing at a bar on Granville Street near Smithe Street, and witnesses reported that an altercation began inside the establishment, which involved three male patrons.
All three sustained stab wounds from what the VPD says was an unidentified suspect.
Police say that a male employee of the bar was involved in the altercation and injured while attempting to intervene.
All four individuals were transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries following the Vancouver stabbing. Responding officers were able to administer first aid on the scene until paramedics arrived.
Police say that the suspect, who is described as a Black man standing at approximately 5’10” tall with dreadlocks, is still at large. VPD adds that at the time of the incident, he was wearing a black puffy jacket.
“We believe this was a targeted incident tied to the Lower Mainland gang conflict,” said VPD Constable Darren Wong in a statement.
“We are asking anyone who witnessed the altercation, or who has information about what happened, to come forward and speak with our investigators.”
Anyone with more information or with video footage is being asked to contact the VPD Major Crimes unit at 604-717-2500.
While VPD didn’t name the establishment, there are several nightclubs and bars in the area, including Studio, Dublin Calling, and Gorg-O-Mish.
