Melissa Anaya has attracted public attention after former NBA player Delonte West announced that they were getting married, marking a new chapter in a relationship said to span around 20 years.
The news arrived as West approached 11 months of sobriety, making the announcement especially significant for followers who've watched his struggles unfold in public.

On October 15, 2026, West posted a photo of himself and Anaya on Instagram with a message saying they were getting married that day. He later shared a video of the pair driving together, listening to music and showing affection.
The following day, reports said West had confirmed the marriage ahead of a scheduled boxing match against former NBA player Michael Beasley.
Anaya has largely stayed out of the public eye, and reliable details about her age, career, upbringing and family background are scarce. Much of the current interest in her stems from her long-standing connection to West.
While reports describe their relationship as an on-and-off romance lasting about two decades, neither has publicly shared a detailed account of their time together.
West also posted a video of himself picking Anaya up at an airport in Miami. He said it had been 20 years since they'd seen each other in person, although they'd stayed in touch online.
Melissa Anaya and Delonte West's new beginning
West's personal life has drawn attention since his basketball career ended, with public videos and reports documenting periods of instability, arrests and substance-use struggles.
Those experiences have often overshadowed his time as a professional athlete.
In March 2026, West announced that he'd reached 100 days sober in a video recorded in Florida. He mentioned working with Wellness Fitness & Performance while celebrating the milestone.
Us Weekly reported on the update, which followed earlier reports about his efforts to become sober.
By September, coverage said he'd reached 10 months, putting him close to the 11-month anniversary discussed alongside the wedding news.
West was selected by the Boston Celtics with the 24th pick in the 2004 NBA Draft and later played for the Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland Cavaliers and Dallas Mavericks.
His career lasted eight seasons, but later personal and legal difficulties became a major part of public coverage of his life.
The marriage announcement also came as West prepares to face Beasley in a boxing event promoted by streamer Adin Ross's Brand Risk Promotions.
