Allegiant Air's longest scheduled Boeing 737 MAX 8 services in January 2027 will stretch more than 1,500 miles (2,414 km) across the United States, connecting Florida with destinations in the Upper Midwest and the Northeast. For an airline known for linking smaller markets with leisure destinations, these flights demonstrate how a single-aisle aircraft can support substantial nonstop journeys without requiring passengers to connect through a major hub.
The longest route in the schedule is between Florida and South Dakota, covering over 1,500 miles (2,414 km) each way. But distance is only part of the story. Each service's frequency, scheduled seat count, and mix of origins and destinations show how Allegiant's Boeing 737 MAX 8 operations can serve markets far beyond short Florida leisure hops.
The following ranking uses the Cirium January 2027 schedule report for Allegiant's G4-marketed, 7M8-coded nonstop passenger flights. Routes are ranked by one-way distance, as the return trip is usually the same length. The figures represent scheduled operations for January 2027, but there is no guarantee that every flight will operate exactly as listed.
Fort Lauderdale To Sioux Falls: Allegiant's Longest Scheduled MAX 8 Route
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to Sioux Falls Regional Airport (FSD) tops Allegiant's January 2027 list, with a scheduled distance of 1,525 miles (2,454 km). The return service from Fort Lauderdale to Sioux Falls covers the same distance, making the round trip 3,050 miles (4,909 km). It is a notable pairing of South Florida's leisure market with a South Dakota city considerably removed from the traditional major-airline hub network.
The schedule lists two weekly departures in each direction, one on Monday and another on Friday. That amounts to four one-way flight operations across the market each week, with 380 seats scheduled per direction and 190 seats per departure. The report records 579,500 available seat miles (ASMs) weekly for each direction, or 1,159,000 combined across the two directional rows. These figures describe planned capacity, not the number of passengers who will ultimately travel.
The route's importance lies in the combination of distance and relatively limited frequency. Allegiant can provide a nonstop connection between two markets without offering daily service, concentrating capacity on selected days instead. For travelers, that can remove the need to connect through another airport. The next-longest route follows a similar Florida-bound pattern, but links the Sunshine State with a different part of the northern United States.
Fargo To St. Pete–Clearwater: A 1,518-Mile Leisure Connection
Fargo, North Dakota (FAR), and St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport (PIE) form Allegiant's second-longest scheduled Boeing 737 MAX 8 market. At 1,518 miles (2,443 km) each way, the journey is just seven miles shorter than the Fort Lauderdale–Sioux Falls service. The return flight covers the same distance, bringing the round-trip total to 3,036 miles (4,886 km). The small difference between the top two routes highlights how closely matched Allegiant's longest scheduled sectors are.
The January 2027 report lists two weekly flights in each direction, scheduled on Thursday and Sunday. Each direction has 380 seats per week, representing two departures with 190 seats apiece. Available seat miles total 576,840 per direction, or 1,153,680 across the two directional entries. The figures place the Fargo–St. Pete–Clearwater pairing among the schedule's largest-distance markets, while its twice-weekly frequency gives passengers fewer departure choices than a daily operation would.
For Allegiant, the pairing illustrates the potential of a leisure-focused network to link smaller northern markets directly with Florida. Passengers can travel without changing aircraft at a connecting hub, while the airline can schedule capacity around selected days of the week. However, the schedule alone cannot establish whether the service is seasonal, how profitable it is, or how full its flights will be. A third route takes the ranking farther west, connecting Colorado with Florida's Gulf Coast.
Colorado Springs To St. Pete–Clearwater: 1,473 Miles Across The Country
Allegiant's third-longest route in the January 2027 schedule connects Colorado Springs Airport (COS) with St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport (PIE). The nonstop distance is 1,473 miles (2,371 km), making the round trip 2,946 miles (4,741 km). Compared with the two leading routes, the sector is slightly shorter, but it remains a substantial domestic flight for a low-cost carrier focused on point-to-point leisure travel.
The schedule lists one weekly departure in each direction, both on Monday. Each directional service has 190 seats per week, corresponding to a single scheduled flight, and 279,870 ASMs. Across both directions, the market therefore has two scheduled weekly operations and 559,740 available seat miles. The figures show that the route is less frequent than either Fort Lauderdale–Sioux Falls or Fargo–St. Pete–Clearwater, despite remaining within the top three for distance.
This is where the distinction between an aircraft's capability and an airline's commercial strategy becomes important. The schedule shows the 737 MAX 8 is assigned to a route spanning nearly 1,500 miles, but it doesn't explain why Allegiant chose only a once-weekly frequency. That decision could depend on demand, aircraft availability, and seasonal scheduling. The next route shifts focus from Colorado to northern New England, with a Maine airport serving as the starting point for another Florida connection.
Bangor To Punta Gorda: A 1,433-Mile Journey To Florida's Gulf Coast
Bangor International Airport (BGR), in Maine, ranks fourth, with nonstop service to Punta Gorda Airport (PGD), in Florida. The scheduled distance is 1,433 miles (2,307 km) in either direction, making the round trip 2,866 miles (4,613 km). The pairing places a northern New England market directly alongside one of Allegiant's Florida destinations, without requiring passengers to travel through a major connecting hub.
According to the January 2027 report, the airline schedules one departure in each direction on Thursday. Each direction provides 190 seats per week and generates 272,270 ASMs, for a combined 544,540 available seat miles across the two directional rows. The schedule describes a weekly service in each direction rather than a daily connection. That distinction matters when assessing the practical usefulness of a nonstop route: the flight eliminates a connection, but passengers must still plan around its limited departure pattern.
The Bangor–Punta Gorda service also illustrates the geographic reach of Allegiant's network. The airline can connect a relatively remote northeastern market directly with a popular Florida leisure destination while using the same aircraft family employed on its longer domestic routes. This does not mean every market can support nonstop service or that all such routes will be equally successful. Instead, it demonstrates how a point-to-point airline can use a common aircraft type across routes with different distances and frequencies. Fifth on the list is another South Dakota–Florida connection, this time linking Sioux Falls with southwest Florida.
Sioux Falls To Punta Gorda: 1,415 Miles Nonstop
Sioux Falls appears twice among Allegiant's five longest scheduled Boeing 737 MAX 8 routes for January 2027. In addition to its leading service to Fort Lauderdale, the South Dakota airport connects to Punta Gorda, Florida, over 1,415 miles (2,277 km). The return journey brings the total to 2,830 miles (4,554 km), placing the market just 18 miles (29 km) behind Bangor–Punta Gorda in the ranking.
The schedule shows two weekly departures in each direction, on Monday and Friday. Each direction has 380 seats per week, representing two flights with 190 seats per departure, and 537,700 ASMs. Across both directional rows, that amounts to four scheduled one-way operations, 760 seats per week in each direction combined, and 1,075,400 available seat miles. The twice-weekly schedule gives the route more frequency than the once-weekly Colorado Springs–St. Pete–Clearwater and Bangor–Punta Gorda markets.
The two Sioux Falls routes illustrate how Allegiant can connect one origin with different Florida destinations, each serving its own local travel market. Fort Lauderdale offers access to South Florida, while Punta Gorda provides an alternative gateway to the state's Gulf Coast. The schedule doesn't show how passengers split demand between these destinations, but it confirms both are among the carrier's longest planned nonstop services. Together, the five routes raise a broader question: what do these distances tell us about the Boeing 737 MAX 8's role in Allegiant's operation?
The Boeing 737 MAX 8's Impressive Reach In Allegiant's Network
Allegiant's longest routes in its January 2027 schedule show that a single-aisle aircraft can easily connect geographically distant US markets without an intermediate stop on flights over 1,500 miles. These distances matter for domestic point-to-point travel, especially when the airline can offer a nonstop alternative to journeys that might otherwise require a connection.
The schedule also provides a useful measure of the operational work assigned to the aircraft. Across the five route pairs, weekly frequencies range from one to two departures in each direction, and the report consistently lists 190 seats per departure, based on the aircraft configuration. This common capacity figure makes the route distances and scheduled frequencies easier to compare. Nevertheless, the report is a snapshot of planned operations for next January; it does not confirm that the same routes, aircraft assignments, or frequencies will remain unchanged throughout the year.
The Boeing 737 MAX 8's long-range performance is best understood by the missions it can support. Allegiant's schedule shows the aircraft assigned to services approaching 1,530 miles nonstop, connecting smaller and leisure-oriented markets across the country. Whether the airline expands these routes, adds frequencies, or deploys the aircraft on even longer sectors will depend on future network decisions and operating requirements. You can always check the official Allegiant website for the most recent information. For now, the upcoming schedule clearly shows how the MAX 8 can help Allegiant bridge the distance between markets that don't necessarily need a traditional hub-and-spoke connection.
