Colombian singer Shakira concluded her residency in Madrid, Spain, with figures that reinforce her position as one of the most popular Latin artists on the international stage. Across 13 concerts, the Barranquilla-born singer drew more than 700,000 spectators and headlined an event that extended beyond the stage, becoming a major driver of tourism, cultural activity and economic growth in the Spanish capital.
The residency was part of the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour and took place at Macondo Park, a venue built specifically to host her performances. Under the concept ES LATINA, the project combined live music with activities related to gastronomy, art, literature and other expressions of Latin American culture.
In addition to its attendance figures and economic impact, the residency achieved another milestone with the worldwide streaming of one of its concerts through digital platforms.
Shakira’s Madrid residency draws 700,000 fans and millions in economic impact
One of the residency’s most significant achievements was the total attendance across its 13 concerts. More than 700,000 people attended the performances, reflecting Shakira’s drawing power and the interest generated by her return to Spanish stages with a large-scale production.
The event also had a substantial economic impact on Madrid. Estimates released after the residency ended placed the total impact at approximately $534 million, while the direct economic impact exceeded 200 million euros. These figures account for activity generated across sectors such as hotels, restaurants, transportation, retail and tourism services.
The arrival of visitors from different parts of Spain and other countries further expanded the concerts’ reach. For many fans, the experience involved more than attending a show: it meant organizing trips, booking accommodation and exploring the city during the concert dates.
Demand had already signaled the scale of the project when the first dates were announced. More than 450,000 tickets were sold within hours, prompting the addition of further performances until the schedule reached 13 concerts. The public response turned the residency into one of Madrid’s most notable musical events of the year.
An experience that went beyond the concerts
Shakira’s project also stood out for combining music with a broader cultural offering. Under the ES LATINA concept, Macondo Park became a space dedicated to different expressions of Latin American identity, with activities related to gastronomy, fashion, art and literature.
The program expanded the audience experience and provided a cultural context for the singer’s performances. In this way, the residency sought to connect live entertainment with other creative expressions from Latin America while showcasing artists and projects reflecting the region’s cultural diversity.
The temporary venue, designed to accommodate tens of thousands of people each night, was another defining feature of the project. Its construction allowed the performances to take place in one location and ensured that the space could meet the technical and production requirements of a large-scale residency.

Shakira sets a record with a worldwide concert livestream
Another major moment took place on Oct. 3, 2026, when one of the residency’s concerts was streamed live through Amazon Music, Prime Video and Twitch. The broadcast marked the first worldwide livestream of a full Shakira concert and set an audience record on Amazon Music for live performances by female artists.
Although exact viewer figures were not disclosed, the platform’s confirmation of the record reinforced the residency’s international reach. The broadcast allowed fans in different countries to enjoy the show without traveling to Spain, extending its audience beyond those attending in person.
The performance also featured a surprise appearance by Dua Lipa, who joined Shakira onstage for a special version of Antología. The British singer’s appearance became one of the event’s most talked-about moments and added another highlight to a residency that had already captured the attention of pop music fans.
These achievements added to the success of the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, which surpassed four million tickets sold, according to figures released during the tour. The project takes its name from Shakira’s 2024 album and combines new songs with iconic tracks from throughout her career.
Shakira thanks Antonio de la Rua at the residency’s closing concert
The final performance also featured a significant moment when Shakira publicly thanked Antonio de la Rua, with whom she had a romantic relationship for approximately 11 years. The Argentine businessman participated in the development of Macondo Park, the venue created to host the Madrid residency.
The singer acknowledged his contribution to the project and referred to the friendship they maintain today. The recognition drew attention because the two had shared an important period in their personal and professional lives before their separation.
De la Rua’s involvement in developing the venue added a personal dimension to the residency’s conclusion. His collaboration was connected to the creation of a space capable of welcoming hundreds of thousands of attendees over the weeks of musical events.
The closing performance also marked the end of a series of shows in which Shakira welcomed guest artists, including Alejandro Sanz, Maluma, Laura Pausini, Beele, Manuel Turizo and Bizarrap, at different points throughout the residency.
