Despite playing outside Europe since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in 2023, Messi has continued to attract global attention for his performances in the United States.
He has also featured on the shortlist for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, underlining his continued presence among the game’s leading players despite competing in Major League Soccer rather than a European league.
