Who is Dumi Mkokstad's wife?: Here's all you need to know

• Screenshots of alleged DMs between gospel star Dumi Mkokstad and an unknown user surfaced on X and TikTok
• The profile in the DMs featured Mkokstad's old album cover, raising questions about when the messages were sent
• The leak reignited old controversies, as Dumi previously trended over claims he left a girlfriend for his wife

Screenshots allegedly showing gospel star Dumi Mkokstad exchanging flirtatious messages with an unknown person spread rapidly across X and TikTok on 14 October 2026. The leak has stirred up strong reactions online, with fans and critics divided over whether the images are genuine or fabricated.

One detail that caught many users' attention is the profile picture visible in the alleged DMs, which shows the cover of Mkokstad's 2022 album, The Overflow Gcwala Kimi. This differs from his current profile image, a family Christmas portrait with his wife and children, which he uses consistently across his social media platforms. Many took this as a sign that the messages, if real, could be several years old.

The singer, whose full name is Mdumiseni Nzimande, is a celebrated South African gospel artist and a devoted family man. In June, he marked seven years of marriage to his wife, Dr Ziphozenkosi Nzimande, a Haematology Registrar.

The leaked screenshots ignited a heated debate online. Several users expressed shock that someone of his stature could allegedly behave this way, with one commenter writing, "Even men of God will embarrass you." Others were quick to defend him, insisting the screenshots were doctored, with some simply stating, "This is AI."

Not Dumi Mkokstad's 1st rodeo

This is not the first time Mkokstad has found himself at the centre of personal controversy. Before his marriage, he trended on social media over a video of himself in matching outfits, dancing with a woman he later identified as a former partner he had previously intended to marry. Social media users at the time accused him of having left her for his now-wife.

Speaking to DailySUN in 2022, the singer clarified that he and the woman had ended their relationship in 2018 and that both had moved on with their lives. The following year, he paid lobola for Dr Ziphozenkosi Nzimande, though the lead-up to the wedding was overshadowed by the swirling speculation.

"There was no peace. It was meant to be a time for joy and love, but there wasn't any of that. It was hurtful for my wife, and double the pain for me because I felt the pain on her behalf," he said at the time.

In 2023, another incident occurred and threatened the couple's marriage after a woman from Sandton reportedly turned up at Dumi's parents' house claiming to be his wife.

With the latest screenshots now circulating widely, the debate around Mkokstad's character has been reignited, splitting his fanbase between those who stand firmly in his corner and those who believe the allegations hold weight.
