Who the Pixies Are and Why Lima Matters
The Pixies formed in Boston in 1986 and are among the best-known American alternative rock bands. Consequence, a US music outlet, reports the band marked its 40th anniversary in 2026 with shows on three continents.
Their latest studio album, The Night the Zombies Came, came out in 2024. The 2027 South American run covers nine shows in six countries between 25 March and 17 April.
Santiago, Buenos Aires and São Paulo were announced in August. Frutillar, Montevideo, Curitiba, Brasília, Lima and Bogotá were added on Thursday, 15 October.
Lima is the penultimate stop on the tour. The final show is two days later, on Saturday, 17 April 2027, at Movistar Arena in Bogotá.
Bassist Paz Lenchantin left the band in 2024, Infobae reports. The same outlet says Emma Richardson is expected to play bass at the Bogotá show.
No source opened for this article names the bassist for Lima. Songkick, a concert listing site, puts the band’s previous Lima visit about 12 years ago.
The Venue and How to Get There
The concert is on the Explanada del Parque de la Exposición, on Avenida 28 de Julio in central Lima. Lima Easy, a local guide, places the park next to downtown, on the site of the former south city gate.
The park holds the Museo de Arte, in the Palacio de Exposición that opened in 1872. It also has gardens, monuments and a Japanese garden given by Japan.
Songkick lists a separate venue in the park, the Anfiteatro del Parque de la Exposición, so do not confuse the two. Listings name the esplanade for the Pixies, so check your ticket before you travel.
No transport or traffic plan for the show has been published. The State Department advises using app-based or hotel-arranged taxis rather than hailing cars on the street.
Book your ride home in advance and agree a pick-up point away from the crowd. Lima crowds and traffic are hard to predict, so leave extra time.
Tickets and Prices
Tu Entrada, a Peruvian ticket-information site, names Joinnus as the seller for the Lima show. The same listing says sales open on Tuesday, 20 October at 10:00 a.m.
Joinnus is a Peruvian ticketing platform, and its own event page could not be read for this article. Treat the 20 October start as announced but not confirmed by the seller.
No ticket prices are quoted here because the seller’s page could not be checked. The Tu Entrada listing mentions card discounts, but those terms are also unconfirmed.
Peru’s currency is the sol (S/), at 3.44 per US$1 on 16 October 2026, from open.er-api.com. At that rate S/100 is about US$29.
Buy only from the seller named by the promoter and open the page yourself. Resale sites and social media offers are the usual route for fake tickets.
Tips for US and Foreign Visitors
US citizens need no visa for tourist stays of 90 days or less, the State Department says. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date you enter.
Border officers set your approved stay at entry, and overstays bring fines you must pay before leaving. Check that your entry is stamped on arrival.
The State Department rates Peru Level 2, exercise increased caution, because of crime, civil unrest and kidnapping risk. The advisory page shows an issue date of 16 May 2025, and it may change before April.
Petty theft and muggings often happen in daylight, and demonstrations can close roads without warning. Keep your phone secure and out of view in public, and enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program for embassy alerts.
No vaccines are required for entry, and the State Department advises drinking sealed bottled water. It names altitude sickness as a concern in Cusco and Lake Titicaca, not in coastal Lima.
Many private hospitals ask for payment up front, so the State Department urges travel insurance with medical evacuation. Buy it when you book flights and hotels.
Lima uses UTC minus 5 all year. In April that puts the city one hour behind New York and level with Chicago.
