(ANSA) - VARSAVIA, 24 OTT - The Italian Ambassador to Poland, Luca Franchetti Pardo, presided yesterday over the presentation of the Accademia della Crusca’s book *Lingua gentile, lingua geniale: ideare, progettare, creare con l’italiano* (A Gentle Language, A Brilliant Language: Conceiving, Planning, Creating with Italian), hosted by the Italian Cultural Institute in Warsaw as part of the 26th Week of the Italian Language in the World. The event, introduced by the Institute’s acting director, Ilaria Taddeo, featured presentations by Elżbieta Jamrozik, a professor at the University of Warsaw and a foreign corresponding member of the Accademia della Crusca, and Rita Librandi, professor emerita at the University of Naples “L’Orientale” and vice president of the Accademia. The ambassador thanked the speakers for their contribution to the knowledge and dissemination of Italian, emphasizing the Accademia della Crusca’s role in the study and promotion of our language.
The book presented, edited by Annalisa Nesi and Raffaella Setti and produced by the Academy in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, explores the relationship between language, kindness, and creativity. Through essays dedicated, among other topics, to Leonardo, Galileo, literature, music, cinema, and fashion, it highlights the variety of fields in which the Italian language accompanies the development and transmission of knowledge. This relationship is at the heart of Italian Language Week in the World, scheduled for October 19–25 under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic and dedicated this year to the theme “A Brilliant Language: Conceiving, Designing, and Creating with Italian.” In his remarks, Franchetti Pardo highlighted the link between language promotion, innovation, and Italy’s international presence. “The success of ‘Made in Italy’ is based not only on the quality of its products but also on a heritage of knowledge, sensibility, and traditions that the language helps to express and transmit,” the ambassador observed, highlighting how the spread of Italian fosters a more comprehensive understanding of the skills and excellence of contemporary Italy. According to the diplomat, the creative dimension goes hand in hand with that of dialogue, making language promotion a fundamental component of cultural diplomacy. “Language is not merely a tool for communication: it is a gateway to a culture, a means of understanding a country from within, and an opportunity to build relationships that can stand the test of time,” emphasized Franchetti Pardo, highlighting Italian’s ability to bring people together and foster mutual understanding.
